WORDS FROM OUR CREATIVE DIRECTOR

Slowly but surely, we are emerging from the cocoons of COVID-19 hibernation. Some of us are feeling like beautiful butterflies about to spread our wings whilst some of us are more feeling like slightly deranged caterpillars. I think I may have hashed that metaphor, but I guess what I am saying is that not everyone has had the same experience over the last two month or so. Now is the time to be gentle with those that are struggling, to embrace those who are flourishing and respect all of those who are somewhere in between.

Our dance classes with Roxanne’s Dance workshops, ballet with myself and music with the crew at Moora School of Music have all resumed on-site. It is so heart-warming to see our space activated, energetic and full of creative souls once more.

ARTS HAPPENINGS

“When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It is to enjoy each step along the way”. Wayne Dyer may well have been speaking directly to our darling ballerina, Gianna Tierney when he wrote these words. In keeping with the Collective’s ethos of bringing joy through the arts to all within our community, it just such a privilege to have divine souls such as Gianna dancing with our Creative Director, Nyree Taylor.

Deux! We have welcomed local artist, Shireen Manning, to the Collective for our second Drive By Exhibition. Shireen’s artwork focuses on the beauty around us all. Her medium of choice is mixed media. Her goal – to invoke pleasure, tension and excitement in the viewer. Shireen is currently working on a large commissioned botancial piece, and an even larger farm landscape. Shireen also works on smaller floral drawings, landscapes and, as if this isnt enough, funky crocheted footstool covers.

All of Shireen’s featured art is available for purchase. Simply contact the Collective to purchase or to learn more about any of the works on display.

Following on from Shireen’s exhibition, the Collective is thrilled to welcome the work of Dean OCallaghan in our windows!

School holidays are almost upon us and we have two fantastic workshops to keep your creative little people occupied! Check out our Facebook page for more information on Kerry Munn’s creative workshops for children.
