WORDS FROM OUR CREATIVE DIRECTOR

There is nothing like change to keep a group dynamic and reassessing its direction, goals and its raison d’être. Gardiner Street Arts Collective has been bringing and sharing creative energy for over twelve months with the passion of volunteers and the hard work of our founding Coordinator, Rikki Smith. Rikki has moved north for family reasons and whilst we are tearful at her departure, we are excited to welcome Sarah Murray to the role of GSAC coordinator. Many of you would know Sarah and her family as long-time, much-loved Moora locals. Sarah describes herself as a “multi-passionate, creative entrepreneur… impact-driven and an inspired storyteller through written words… tech-savvy, a marketing and social media guru, and a full moon and crystal lover”. We would describe Sarah as a ‘legend and maker of magic’ – we cannot wait to see her weave her spell over GSAC.

Keep on creating!

ARTS HAPPENINGS

Talk about finishing the year with a bang! We’ve decided to pull out all the stops and host our (ahem, slightly belated!) opening party! Come along to your Arts Collective on December 17 – join us as we celebrate all things creative with music, dance, visual arts and great conversation. We will be supporting our local artists with a one-night Christmas market to coincide with our grand opening, making it the perfect opportunity to get some Christmas shopping ticked off the list. If you’re keen to showcase your works, get in touch with any of us here at the Collective and we’ll submit your works for consideration by our Creative Director.

Moora School of Music (MSoM) continues to bring joy to our Collective with students and teachers preparing for end of year piano exams. The patient, kind and skilled tutelage of the MSoM teachers means their students have progressed remarkably through the year and we wish them all the best with their exams.

Shakira would be proud of the booty-shaking that has been taking place each week here at the Collective with our sell-out Belly Dancing Classes! You should see these ladies move! Whilst they’re not quite ready for sharing photos of their energetic endeavours, I can attest that these women are having a ball! The class is about more than moving, strengthening posture and toning abs; these women are blossoming with confidence and the courage to throw off those inhibitions.

Thinking of throwing off your creative inhibitions? The GSAC are now taking bookings for 2021 exhibitions. With massive thanks to the House family of Wong Wong farms, we now have hangers and tracking to display art. DG Cabinets masterfully installed the hangers and tracking system, and we welcome bookings for exhibitions, workshops and gatherings in our Collective. Please contact Sarah (coordinator@gardinerstreetartscollective.com.au) or send a message via social media for bookings.
